Aura Beauty & Head Spa

— Issaquah, WA · E Sunset Way

Scalp treatment in Issaquah, WA. Eight formats, $50 to $150.

One camera, one monitor and a shallow basin. Which treatment you leave with gets settled at the start of the appointment, while you look at your own scalp magnified on a screen.

Quick answer

A scalp treatment is a professional cleanse and massage of the skin under your hair, 30 to 90 minutes long, priced from $50 to $150 at Aura Beauty & Head Spa on E Sunset Way in Issaquah. All eight formats open with a digital scalp analysis, and everything from 45 minutes upward finishes with a blow-dry, so you leave with dry hair. Open every day, 9 AM to 8 PM, about a third of a mile east of Front Street in Olde Town.

Which scalp treatment should you book? Start at the monitor.

The one the scalp camera points at, and that gets settled in the first few minutes of the appointment. Every head spa here opens with a digital scalp analysis: a small camera magnifies a patch of skin onto a monitor, and you look at it with your therapist before any product comes out. Oil pooling between the follicles and dry flaking along the part line want opposite treatments.

Eight formats cover the range. What separates them is the product going onto the scalp and how long the massage runs.

Oily by Tuesday, or heavy with product

Book the Chinese Herb Scalp Ritual, $100 for 60 minutes, if your roots shine two days after a wash — it is herbal scalp care pointed at buildup. Where months of dry shampoo and styling product have collected down at the root, the 90-minute Purifying Scalp Revitalize Treatment at $150 gives the cleansing stage half an hour more room. The oily scalp guide covers what to change between visits.

Tight and dry, and worse from October onwards

The Signature Ginger Scalp Ritual, also $100 for 60 minutes, is warming work for a scalp that feels tight by the evening. Issaquah's wet season runs October through April, and 62 inches of rain in a year means the heating is on through most of it. That is usually what a tight, flaky scalp is reacting to by January, and the dry scalp guide has the at-home half.

Hair that has been bleached or heat-styled hard

If your hair has been through bleach, highlights or a flat iron most mornings, the 90-minute Luxury Milbon Restorative Head Spa at $150 is the format built for it, with hot steam carrying a bonding treatment. Tell your therapist when your last color appointment was so products get chosen around it.

What does a scalp treatment cost in Issaquah? $50 to $150.

The welcome counter at Aura in Issaquah with a gold lotus sign, lit candles and tea set out for arriving guests

Between $50 and $150, with the whole menu on the pricing page, both 90-minute treatments included. The 45-minute Classic Head Spa is $78, the 60-minute Signature $90, and the 75-minute Aura Scalp Treatment with a mini facial at $120 is the most-booked service on the menu.

Length does most of the work: $50 buys 30 minutes, $150 buys 90. The other two levers are the product line — Milbon is the one named on the menu — and whether you stack a second treatment onto the end of the session.

Is a package cheaper than booking two things?

Yes. Every package on the menu costs less than its two halves booked separately. Gua Sha Facial & Head Spa is $160 for 90 minutes, where an $80 gua sha facial and a $90 head spa booked one after the other come to $170. The Midweek Healing Package runs $148 for three 30-minute stages — shoulders, face, scalp. All seven are listed on the packages page.

Does a scalp treatment help hair growth? No — that one belongs to a dermatologist.

No, and no format on the menu is sold as one. Nobody here will tell you that a run of sessions will thicken a part line. What a scalp treatment does is clean the skin under your hair and give you an uninterrupted hour; hair loss sits outside what a beauty studio may diagnose or treat.

Thinning that has changed pace, a part line widening, hair coming out in patches — those belong to a doctor, and that is the appointment worth making first. See the dermatologist, then book the head spa; the two sit together perfectly well.

When to see a doctor first

Book a dermatologist ahead of us if your scalp is sore, bleeding or crusting, if flaking has not settled with an over-the-counter shampoo, or if hair is shedding in patches. Aura is a beauty and relaxation studio. It does not diagnose, treat or cure any condition, and our therapists will tell you the same thing at the basin.

So what is the treatment good for?

Two things. It cleans the skin under your hair with a double shampoo — the second wash is the one that reaches the scalp, and a salon wash of about 5 minutes has no room for it. And it hands you a long scalp massage: the NCCIH groups massage with the approaches studied for stress and muscle tension, and Mayo Clinic files hands-on relaxation alongside breathing and meditation.

What should you do before your appointment? Come with unwashed hair.

Leave your hair alone that morning. A scalp reads more clearly on the monitor when it has not just been stripped, and cleaning it is the work you are paying for. There is nothing else to prepare — no products to bring, no forms to print — and the format you booked can still change once the camera is on.

  1. Arrive with dry, unwashed hair. Yesterday's dry shampoo is fine, and it shows up clearly on the monitor.
  2. Say when your last color, perm or keratin treatment was, so products get chosen around it.
  3. Allow for the blow-dry. Every format from 45 minutes up ends with one, and the booked slot already covers it.
  4. Text 206-552-4799 if the traffic beats you. The same line takes calls and messages, seven days a week.

The order of the session itself — analysis, double shampoo, massage, a reclined warm-water rinse at the basin, mask, blow-dry — is laid out stage by stage in the what happens during a head spa guide. If you are still weighing this against a clinical scalp treatment or a salon wash, the head spa versus scalp treatment explainer draws that line properly. The full menu with every inclusion sits on the head spa page.

Finding us

Look for the sign, not a shopfront

Open every day, 9 AM to 8 PM — a lunch hour, an evening after work, or a weekend morning all fit.

  1. Come off I-90 at Exit 18 and follow E Sunset Way east. We are about a third of a mile past Front Street, on a block of converted houses.
  2. Watch the curb for a dark monument sign reading House of Layo and Aura Beauty. We share the site with the salon, so that sign is the landmark.
  3. Come a few minutes early on a first visit — there is tea by the fireplace, and your head spa starts with a look at your scalp on the monitor.

— Questions

Asked & answered.

Do I need to wash my hair before a scalp treatment?

No. Arrive with it dry and unwashed — the camera reads a scalp better in its ordinary state, and the deep cleanse is part of what you booked.

Which scalp treatment is best for a scalp that gets oily fast?

The Chinese Herb Scalp Ritual, $100 for 60 minutes. For hair carrying months of product, the 90-minute Purifying Scalp Revitalize Treatment at $150 goes deeper.

What does a scalp detox involve?

On this menu the word names the deep-cleansing stage of the 75-minute Aura Scalp Treatment, $120, which lifts oil, sweat and styling product off the skin under your hair. It is a cleanse, and nothing is drawn out of your body.

Is there a scalp treatment that does not wet my hair?

Yes — the TCM Head Aromatherapy, $50 for 30 minutes, is oil, pressure and aroma on a dry scalp. Book it on a lunch hour. Everything from 45 minutes up includes the wash and the blow-dry.

Will a scalp treatment stop my hair thinning?

We make no claim that it will. Thinning, a widening part line and shedding in patches are questions for a dermatologist — see one first, then book the treatment; the two sit together well.

Does Issaquah's tap water affect my scalp?

Issaquah blends four of its own wells with Cascade surface supply and tests 69.5 ppm — 4.1 grains — against Seattle's 22.9 and Bellevue's 24.6. That is roughly three times the mineral, still moderate by national standards. We do not claim it causes scalp trouble or that a treatment corrects it.

How long does the drive from Bellevue take at 5 PM?

Add 8 to 12 minutes to the off-peak 19. WSDOT measured the I-90 Bellevue–Issaquah corridor at 17 minutes on average eastbound in the PM peak, and 21 minutes at the 95th percentile, against 9 minutes at the posted speed.

Can I book a scalp treatment and a massage on the same visit?

Yes. Neck & Shoulder Massage + Head Spa is $140 for 90 minutes — 30 minutes of shoulder and back work, then a full 60-minute head spa. Head Spa + Back Massage splits the 90 minutes evenly at $145.
