How far is a head spa from Renton? 16.5 miles.
16.5 miles, and about 24 minutes when the roads are clear. The route is I-405 north out of Renton to the I-90 interchange, then I-90 east to Exit 18 for E Sunset Way — one freeway change, and one ramp at the end of it.
Sammamish is 6.8 miles from the door, Bellevue 11.8, Redmond 14.3. Renton's 16.5 is the longest of the four. The shorter ones will squeeze into a lunch hour; 48 minutes of driving round trip asks for more of the day than that, so a trip from Renton is worth planning as an outing.
What the afternoon peak adds
Add 8 to 12 minutes, nearly all of it on the I-90 leg. WSDOT's 2024 measurement of the eastbound stretch between Bellevue and Issaquah puts it at 17 minutes on an average PM peak and 21 minutes at the 95th percentile, against 9 minutes at the posted speed. A weekend morning misses that window, which is the other argument for a Saturday.
Every origin west of Issaquah inherits that same stretch, and the Bellevue page has the corridor numbers laid out in full.

Is the drive from Renton worth it? For the long formats.
For a 90-minute booking, comfortably. The 48 minutes of driving is a fixed cost and it lands the same whether you are on the bed for 45 minutes or 90, so a longer treatment moves the ratio in your favour. The Luxury Milbon Restorative Head Spa is $150 for 90 minutes, and five of the seven packages run 90 minutes too.
| Booking | On the bed | Driving, round trip | Out of your day | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TCM Head Aromatherapy | 30 min | About 48 min | About 1 hr 20 | $50 |
| Classic Head Spa | 45 min | About 48 min | About 1 hr 35 | $78 |
| Signature Head Spa | 60 min | About 48 min | About 1 hr 50 | $90 |
| Luxury Milbon Restorative | 90 min | About 48 min | About 2 hr 20 | $150 |
| Gua Sha Facial & Head Spa | 90 min | About 48 min | About 2 hr 20 | $160 |
Put lunch on Front Street after either of the bottom two rows and a mid-morning booking still leaves you the afternoon. That is the shape a head spa near Renton takes best: a long booking with a walk after it. Every price on the menu sits on the pricing page.

What else is in Olde Town? 7 to 9 minutes on foot.
The Front Street shops and restaurants, 0.41 miles west of the door — a 7 to 9 minute walk on the flat. Olde Town is Issaquah's historic downtown and a state-designated Creative District, and the storefronts sit within a few blocks of one another. The city's other commercial district, NW Gilman Blvd, is across the freeway.
Building the morning
- Book a 90-minute slot for late morning. Leaving Renton at half past nine on a Saturday puts you at the door around ten.
- Leave lunch until afterwards. You spend most of the 90 minutes lying back with your head in the basin, and Front Street is a short walk from the door when you are done.
- Walk west to Front Street. You leave blow-dried and brushed out, so the walk works in November as well as July.
July is the driest month in Issaquah at 1.37 inches of rain, which makes a summer Saturday the easy version of this. The wet season runs October through April, and the blow-dry that ends every format from 45 minutes up is what keeps the walk pleasant through the other half of the year.

What should you book for a 90-minute slot? Scalp, or scalp plus.
Either of the two 90-minute head spas, or one of the five 90-minute packages. The Luxury Milbon Restorative Head Spa, $150, brings hot steam and a bonding treatment to hair that has been bleached or heat-styled hard. The Purifying Scalp Revitalize Treatment, also $150, spends the same hour and a half on a deeper cleanse and an essence infusion.
Two things in one visit
Each package pairs a head spa with something else and costs less than its two halves booked apart. Gua Sha Facial & Head Spa is $160 — a 30-minute gua sha facial, then a 60-minute head spa with the blow-dry. Head Spa + Back Massage is $145, split 45 and 45. The Midweek Healing Package stacks three 30-minute stages for $148. All seven sit on the packages page.
The first ten minutes
A digital scalp analysis. A camera magnifies one patch of your scalp onto a monitor beside the bed and you look at it together before any product comes out. Oil sitting between the follicles and a dry scalp lifting at the part line want opposite treatment, so the screen settles the hour that follows. The scalp analysis guide goes through what you see on it.
The rinse at the basin
You stay reclined for it. Warm water runs through your hair from a ring above the basin while the therapist works through it by hand, and it is the stage people describe first when they get home. Every format from 45 minutes up finishes at the blow-dry stations; the 30-minute TCM Head Aromatherapy at $50 never wets your hair at all. All eight are listed on the head spa page.

Which exit do you take? Eighteen.
Exit 18, signed E Sunset Way and Highlands Drive. Driving east on I-90 you reach Exit 17 first, and 17 drops you on NW Gilman Blvd on the north side of the freeway, which costs you a U-turn at the end of a 24-minute drive. Stay on to 18, come off southbound and follow E Sunset Way east.
What you are looking for
A house. Past roughly the 400 block, E Sunset Way turns into converted Craftsman and mid-century homes on their own lots — City Hall sits in that same pattern at 130 E Sunset. The marker is the dark monument sign at the curb carrying two names, House of Layo and Aura Beauty, because the site is shared with the salon.
The map, the hours and the text number are on the contact page. Doors are open 9 AM to 8 PM all seven days, weekends included, so you can book online or text (206) 552-4799 for a time.

When should you see a doctor first? Before you book.
Whenever the scalp itself is the problem. Hair coming out in patches, a scalp that is sore, bleeding or crusting, flaking that has carried on through a course of over-the-counter shampoo — all of that belongs with a dermatologist. Aura is a beauty and relaxation studio; it does not diagnose, treat or cure anything.
See a dermatologist first, then book. The two go together fine, and our therapists will work around whatever you have been given. If this would be your first head spa, the first visit guide covers what to bring and what happens when.

Finding us
Look for the sign, not a shopfront
Open every day, 9 AM to 8 PM — a lunch hour, an evening after work, or a weekend morning all fit.
- Come off I-90 at Exit 18 and follow E Sunset Way east. We are about a third of a mile past Front Street, on a block of converted houses.
- Watch the curb for a dark monument sign reading House of Layo and Aura Beauty. We share the site with the salon, so that sign is the landmark.
- Come a few minutes early on a first visit — there is tea by the fireplace, and your head spa starts with a look at your scalp on the monitor.
