Your treatment and your time are held on Square, and the rest of it happens in the room: a few unhurried minutes when you arrive, tea by the fireplace if you want it, and a look at your scalp on a monitor before anyone touches your hair.

- On a first visit, come a few minutes early. There is tea and a fireplace, and the studio is a converted house on a tree-lined block of E Sunset Way, so a first arrival takes a moment longer than it would at a shopfront.

Which treatment should you book first?
The 45-minute Classic Head Spa at $78, for most first visits. It runs the whole sequence — scalp analysis, double cleanse, scalp and shoulder massage, warm-water rinse, mask, blow-dry — and it is the shortest format that carries all of it.
If the massage is what you want
Book the 60-minute Signature at $90. The extra quarter of an hour buys scalp exfoliation and a longer scalp and neck massage; the rest of the sequence runs as it does in the Classic. The head spa menu sets all eight formats side by side if you want to compare before you commit.
If you want your face done too
The 75-minute Aura Scalp Treatment with a mini facial is $120, and it is the most booked service on the whole menu — the only head spa format that works on your face as well as your scalp. If you want more time on each, the seven packages put two treatments inside one appointment, from $120 for sixty minutes.
If something on your scalp is not settling
See a dermatologist first, then book. Hair coming out in patches, a scalp that is sore or crusting, or flaking that over-the-counter treatment has not shifted belongs with a doctor. When is a good time to come in?
Any day, from 9 AM to 8 PM, and the hours do not change at the weekend. Issaquah takes 62 inches of rain a year, and every head spa from 45 minutes up ends with a blow-dry, so a wet February evening books as well as a dry July one.
From elsewhere on the Eastside the drive is shorter than the map suggests. Sammamish is 6.8 miles and about 16 minutes without touching the freeway; Bellevue 11.8 miles, about 19; Redmond 14.3 miles, about 26; and Renton 16.5 miles, about 24. Bellevue and Renton both come in on I-90 at Exit 18; Sammamish comes down 228th Ave SE and never touches the freeway.

- Come off I-90 at Exit 18 and follow E Sunset Way east. We are about a third of a mile past Front Street, on a block of converted houses.
- Watch the curb for a dark monument sign reading House of Layo and Aura Beauty. We share the site with the salon, so that sign is the landmark.
- Coming east on I-90 in the afternoon peak, give the drive 8 to 12 minutes more than the map offers — that corridor is the slow part of the trip, and the Sammamish route never touches the freeway at all.
