Aura Beauty & Head Spa

— Issaquah · E Sunset Way

Facials in Issaquah, gua sha and deep hydration.

Four treatments, 30 or 60 minutes, at $80 or $138. Two of them run half an hour; the two hour-long facials go to skin that feels dry, or to skin that wants the hour built around it.

Quick answer

A facial here is a 30 minute or 60 minute treatment for the skin on your face, booked on its own or as one stage of a 60 or 90 minute package. At Aura Beauty & Head Spa, 575 E Sunset Way in Issaquah, WA, facials are $80 or $138, and the 30 minute Gua Sha Lifting Facial at $80 turns up in three of the seven packages. Open every day, 9 AM to 8 PM.

What does a gua sha facial do for your face?

It eases puffiness. Thirty minutes of slow, weighted strokes with a smooth stone tool along the jaw, the cheekbones and the brow, drawn outward towards the ear and down the side of the neck — flat, firm pressure, pulled across the skin and never scrubbed into it. It suits a morning, and at $80 for half an hour it fits inside a lunch break.

Where the stone goes

The jawline first, from the chin out to the ear. Then the cheekbone, then the brow and the temple, each line worked in repeated strokes before the next one starts. Gua sha is a Chinese technique far older than any spa menu, and on a face it is done at a fraction of the pressure used on a back.

Who it suits

Anyone who wakes up puffier than they went to bed, anyone who clenches a jaw through a working day, and anyone with half an hour free instead of a full one. It is $80, the same as the other 30-minute treatment in this group, and the jaw and the cheekbones are where the half hour goes.

Where it turns up on the package list

Three of the seven packages name a gua sha facial: 30 minutes of shoulder work paired with one for $120, a gua sha facial with a full 60-minute head spa for $160, and an even 45-and-45 split for $168. The Midweek Healing Package, $148 for 90 minutes, runs three 30-minute stages — shoulders, facial, head spa. All seven are on the packages page.

Which of the four should you book?

Length decides it more often than skin type does. Two of the four run 30 minutes at $80 and two run a full hour at $138, and the hour is where a cleanse, a mask with time to sit and a facial massage all get room.

If your face feels puffy or your jaw is tight

The Gua Sha Lifting Facial, 30 minutes, $80. The menu gives it a single line — gua sha along the jaw and cheekbones to ease puffiness — and the half hour goes almost entirely into that. Book it before something: a dinner, a photograph, a flight.

If your skin feels dry, tight or dull

The Deep Hydrating Facial, 60 minutes, $138. The extra half hour buys a full cleanse, a mask with enough time to do something, and a facial massage that the 30-minute slot has to cut short. October through April is the stretch to think about it — Issaquah takes 62 inches of rain a year, and the heating runs indoors through most of them.

If you want the hour built around your own skin

The Signature Customized Facial, 60 minutes, $138. A deep cleanse, red light, a serum and a facial massage, with the products picked for your skin on the day. That last part is what the word customized is doing in the name.

About Breast Lymphatic Therapy

Thirty minutes, $80, gentle hands-on work booked for comfort. It sits in this part of the menu because it takes the same slot and is booked the same way. It is a beauty service and makes no medical claim of any kind — anything you find or feel in breast tissue is a question for your doctor.

Can you pair a facial with a head spa?

Yes — four of the seven packages are built that way. Three of them name a gua sha facial specifically, the fourth runs a facial as one of three stages, and each one costs less than booking its stages separately. Every combination is 60 or 90 minutes.

What the pairs cost

A gua sha facial with a 60-minute head spa is $160 for 90 minutes, and the even split — 45 minutes of facial, 45 of scalp — is $168. The shortest pairing is $120: half an hour of deep tissue on the shoulders, then a 30-minute gua sha facial. Look for that one under Male on the booking page. The head spa menu has its own eight formats from $50.

The 75-minute one on the head spa menu

The Aura Scalp Treatment with a mini facial, $120 for 75 minutes, is the most-booked service in the building. The scalp work and the singing bowl come first and the face gets the last stretch of the appointment, so it is a scalp treatment with a facial inside it.

If you are buying it for somebody else

Gift cards go through Square and cover any treatment or any package. Buying the amount instead of the appointment lets them pick: $80 covers either 30-minute treatment and $138 covers either hour. Every number is on the full price list.

When should you see a dermatologist first?

Whenever something on your skin is changing. A rash that will not settle, acne that keeps coming back, a mole that has shifted shape or color, or any patch that bleeds or crusts — one appointment with a dermatologist sorts out what that is, and no facial can. See one first, then book here; the two work well together.

A facial at Aura is a beauty service. It does not diagnose, treat or cure anything. Tell your therapist on the day about a retinoid, a recent peel, an active cold sore, or a medication that leaves your skin sensitive to light, because all of those change what goes on your face.

If you would sooner take the hands-on work to your shoulders and back, the massage menu starts at $60 for 30 minutes.

Finding us

Look for the sign, not a shopfront

Open every day, 9 AM to 8 PM — a lunch hour, an evening after work, or a weekend morning all fit.

  1. Come off I-90 at Exit 18 and follow E Sunset Way east. We are about a third of a mile past Front Street, on a block of converted houses.
  2. Watch the curb for a dark monument sign reading House of Layo and Aura Beauty. We share the site with the salon, so that sign is the landmark.
  3. Come a few minutes early on a first visit — there is tea and a fireplace lounge to sit in while you wait.

— Facial questions

Asked & answered.

What is a gua sha facial?

Thirty minutes of slow, weighted strokes along the jaw, the cheekbones and the brow with a smooth stone tool, drawn outward towards the ear and down the side of the neck. It is $80, it runs half an hour, and what it works on is puffiness.

How much does a facial cost in Issaquah?

Ours are $80 or $138. The two 30-minute treatments are $80 and the two 60-minute facials are $138. Put a facial together with a head spa and the 90-minute packages run $148 to $168; the 60-minute package that pairs a facial with a shoulder massage is $120.

How long does a facial take?

Thirty or sixty minutes. The hour is where a full cleanse, a mask with time to sit and a proper facial massage all fit; the half hour puts almost all of its time into the hands-on work.

What is Breast Lymphatic Therapy?

Gentle hands-on work, 30 minutes, $80, booked for comfort. It sits in the facial group on our booking page because it takes the same slot. It is a beauty service and makes no medical claim of any kind — anything you find or feel in breast tissue is a question for your doctor.

Can a facial clear up acne or a rash?

No. A facial is a beauty treatment and does not treat a skin condition. Acne that keeps returning, a rash that will not settle, or a mole that has changed is a dermatologist's appointment — see one first, then book here, because the two work well together.

Can I have a facial and a head spa in the same appointment?

Yes. Four of the seven packages include a facial stage. A gua sha facial with a 60-minute head spa is $160 for 90 minutes and the even 45-and-45 split is $168; the Midweek Healing Package fits shoulders, facial and head spa into 90 minutes for $148. Each one costs less than booking its stages separately.
