Where are we, and when are you open?

575 E Sunset Way, Issaquah, WA 98027 — open every day from 9 AM to 8 PM, Sunday included. Calls and texts go to (206) 552-4799, email to aura0201usa@gmail.com. Treatments run 30 to 90 minutes, and the booking page shows which slots are still free.

Which way of reaching us is quickest?

Texting, most of the time — it lands on the same line as the phone, and a text sits there until somebody is free to read it. Call if you want a person now. Email suits the longer question: a gift, or a date three weeks out. Booking online skips all three.

Call or text (206) 552-4799

The right one for a small question — whether a 6 PM slot is free tonight, whether the 45 minute Classic at $78 or the 60 minute Signature at $90 is closer to what you had in mind, or that traffic on I-90 has you five minutes behind.

Email for the longer one

aura0201usa@gmail.com. Worth using when the answer needs a paragraph — a gift for somebody who has never had a head spa, or which of the seven packages pairs the two things you want at 60 or 90 minutes.

Booking online

The Square booking page is open at any hour, lists every treatment with its price and its length, and holds the slot without anyone having to pick up the phone. For a first visit, the first-visit guide covers what to wear and whether to wash your hair beforehand.

What does the building look like from the street?

A house. Aura sits in a converted home on a tree-lined stretch of E Sunset Way, 0.4 miles east of the Front Street shops — a 7 to 9 minute walk on the flat. There is no shopfront window, so the landmark at the curb is the dark monument sign reading House of Layo and Aura Beauty.

The block

Olde Town is Issaquah's historic downtown and a state-designated Creative District, which in practice means a walkable grid of old houses — City Hall is one of them, at 130 E Sunset Way. Past roughly the 400 block the shops give way to lawns and porches.

Inside the door

Reception carries the printed menu, and the counter beside it keeps tea and refreshments for anyone who arrives early. Past it there is a fireplace lounge with candles and a cart of rolled towels. Reception and the treatment itself both run in English or Mandarin, whichever you would rather speak.

Coming from the far side of I-90

Issaquah's other commercial district, NW Gilman Blvd, sits across the freeway, so a route holding you on Gilman has landed in the wrong half of town. Leave I-90 at Exit 18 and the last stretch is E Sunset Way itself.

Finding us

Look for the sign, not a shopfront

Open every day, 9 AM to 8 PM — a lunch hour, an evening after work, or a weekend morning all fit.

  1. Come off I-90 at Exit 18 and follow E Sunset Way east. We are about a third of a mile past Front Street, on a block of converted houses.
  2. Watch the curb for a dark monument sign reading House of Layo and Aura Beauty. We share the site with the salon, so that sign is the landmark.
  3. The entrance is the door under the gold lotus sign, and reception is straight ahead of it.

How long is the drive from where you are?

Sammamish is about 16 minutes, Bellevue about 19, Seattle about 26. The minutes below are modeled off-peak from the studio's own coordinates, so treat them as a floor. Anything arriving eastbound on I-90 — Seattle, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Newcastle, Kirkland, Renton — needs 8 to 12 minutes more for a late-afternoon appointment.

From Miles Off-peak Route
Sammamish 6.8 mi about 16 min 228th Ave SE, then down Highlands Dr
Newcastle 9.7 mi about 21 min Lakemont Blvd to I-90 east, Exit 18
Mercer Island 11.4 mi about 18 min I-90 east to Exit 18
Bellevue 11.8 mi about 19 min I-405 south to I-90 east, Exit 18
Snoqualmie 12.3 mi about 18 min I-90 west to Exit 18
North Bend 13.6 mi about 17 min SR-202 to I-90 west, Exit 18
Redmond 14.3 mi about 26 min SR-520 to 148th Ave NE, then I-90 east
Renton 16.5 mi about 24 min I-405 north to I-90 east, Exit 18
Kirkland 16.5 mi about 25 min I-405 south to I-90 east, Exit 18
Seattle 17.6 mi about 26 min I-90 east to Exit 18

Sammamish never touches the freeway, so its 16 minutes hold up at any hour of the day. Redmond runs the other way — 14.3 miles and still about 26 minutes, the same as Seattle at 17.6, because the route goes SR-520 and 148th Ave NE before it reaches I-90 at all.

— Getting in touch

Asked & answered.

Do I need to book ahead?

Booking ahead is the surer way in. The Square page lists all 23 treatments with the slots still open against each one, so you can see what is free before committing to the drive over. Want something today? Text (206) 552-4799 and ask what is left.

Are you open on Sundays?

Yes — 9 AM to 8 PM, the same as every other day. The hours do not shift at the weekend, so a Sunday evening slot is as ordinary here as a Tuesday morning one. Call or text (206) 552-4799 if you want to know what is still free this weekend.

Can I buy a gift card without coming in?

Yes. Square issues them online, so nothing has to be collected in person. The menu it can be spent against runs from $50 for the 30 minute TCM Head Aromatherapy up to $168 for a 90 minute gua sha facial and head spa. The gift cards page carries the link.

Can a head spa help with hair loss or a flaking scalp?

See a dermatologist first, then book — the two work well together. Hair coming out in patches, a scalp that is sore or crusting, or flaking that will not settle with an over-the-counter shampoo all belong with a doctor. A head spa is a beauty service; it does not diagnose, treat or cure anything.

Can we do this in Mandarin?

Yes — English and Mandarin both work, from the first text through to the aftercare. Ask in whichever you would rather use when you call (206) 552-4799. The booking page reads in English, so send a text if that is the easier route in.
